What Are Cookies?

Cookies We Use
We use minimal, functional cookies to make our games work properly:
Cookie Consent
Stores your cookie consent preference so we do not keep asking you. Expires after 30 days.
Game Data
Stores information related to your game sessions, such as content you have created (e.g. playlist codes in Music Quiz), player identifiers, and game preferences. Expires after 30 days.
Authentication Session
When you sign in at auth.gamefriday.party, we set a secure session cookie so a single sign-in works across all our games. It holds only a random session token (no personal data) and is removed when you sign out or the session expires.
OAuth State & CSRF
During sign-in with Google, GitHub, or Twitch we set short-lived security cookies to protect the sign-in process from tampering. These are deleted as soon as the sign-in flow completes.
Analytics (Cookie-Free)
We use privacy-focused analytics tools that do not rely on cookies:
Website analytics (Umami, self-hosted)
An open-source, privacy-focused analytics tool that we run ourselves, used for page views, basic interaction counts, and, for some visits, heatmaps and session replays. It does not use cookies and does not track users across websites. See our Privacy Policy for what a replay can include.
Game statistics (server-side)
Our game servers record aggregate, non-identifying counts (rooms started, matches completed, share links opened). This happens on the server and uses no cookies.
What We Do Not Use Cookies For
- We do not use cookies for advertising or ad targeting
- We do not use cookies for cross-site behavioural tracking
- We do not share cookie data with third parties for marketing
- We do not use social media tracking cookies
Third-Party Services
Some of our games use third-party services that may set their own cookies or use similar technologies:
- Deezer— Used by Music Quiz for audio previews. Audio is streamed from Deezer's servers. See Deezer's Cookie Policy.
- Google, GitHub, Twitch— If you sign in with one of these OAuth providers, that provider will set cookies on its own domain to authenticate you with their service. We do not control those cookies. See Google, GitHub, and Twitch.
- Cloudflare— Our hosting provider may set security-related cookies. Its Turnstile bot check, which protects sign-up, our contact form and room creation, usually runs invisibly and may use similar technologies to tell people from bots. See Cloudflare's Cookie Policy.
